Before we rescued her, deaf and blind Petie had lived her entire life in a shed. Because of this, she is afraid of absolutely everything in the world, even her own shadow. But there is one thing she doesn’t fear and that is drowning! Her happiest place is when she’s swimming. She loves to go in the water. We had an experienced foster lined up for her when she arrived, but when she saw Petie’s condition, she was too concerned to take her.
Petie has a lot of gastrointestinal stress issues when she is overly anxious, which causes her to have explosive diarrhea; not so great for her or for the people she meets. Now, however, she’s content and hanging out with her partner, Wilbur. Only one person can touch Petie without terrifying her and that’s totally fine with us. We know she may not be adoptable but that is no reason to give up on her. She has a doggy door, a bff, lots of toys, a place to swim, and a happy life.
Your tax-deductible donation this season will help get our sanctuary safely prepared for Petie and friends so they can enjoy life while they wait to find forever homes or for as long as they need us to be their home.
